Given that Anton Gliders make carving so easy, can I still skid and slow down with them like on regular skis? A. The Anton Gliders support all the stopping and speed control techniques that are customarily used with conventional skis, including the hockey stop, the skidded turn, and the wedge or snowplow, Moreover, the unique characteristics of the edge design and independent preload suspension system typically provide greater and better-controlled stopping power when employing these techniques. While the Anton Gliders are designed to easily lock into the snow and preclude skidding, they can always be intentionally skidded when necessary for speed control and stopping. BACK TO TOP Q. What snow conditions are best for the Anton Gliders? A. The Anton Gliders are specifically designed for a wide range of groomed snow conditions. They are optimized for a packed surface and perform miraculously on hardpack and ice, making them the ideal choice on the East Coast and anywhere else that icy conditions exist. They will go through up to 4 inches of dry powder on top of a groomed surface and also slice through soft crud like a torpedo. The FS models are best on firm snow and are the easiest to carve on hardpack and ice. For the advanced and expert skier, the EX models perform in the widest range of conditions. The Anton Gliders are not designed to float in powder, and should not be considered for off-piste, backcountry, or spring slush. BACK TO TOP Q. Can I use the Anton Gliders in the moguls? A. The EX models perform very well in moguls. The GT models perform well in firm moguls but are less tolerant of soft conditions.
